Quick answerConverted amount = amount × (target currency rate ÷ source currency rate). If 1 USD = 0.92 EUR, then 100 USD = 92 EUR. This page loads daily mid-market rates for 40 currencies when you open it, so check your bank's quote for the rate you will actually get.

  2. Choose the currency to convert from and to.
  3. Optionally add a bank or transfer fee percentage.

Currency Converter With Daily Exchange Rates

This currency converter turns an amount in one currency into another using the latest daily mid-market exchange rate. Pick two of 40 currencies, type an amount, and the result updates as you type. It works as a forex converter, a money converter for trips and transfers, and an exchange rate calculator for invoices and online shopping.

The mid-market rate is the midpoint between what buyers and sellers will pay on the foreign exchange market. It is the fairest reference point, but it is not the rate a bank, card or money transfer service will normally give you. The optional fee field shows the difference.

How to Convert Currency

  1. Enter the amount you want to convert, such as 100 or 2,500.50.
  2. Choose the currency you have in "From" and the one you want in "To". The swap button reverses them.
  3. Read the result. You also see the exchange rate both ways and the amount for common values, so you can scale it yourself.
  4. Add a fee if you know it. If your bank takes a 3% margin, enter 3 to see the amount you would really receive.

The formula: converted amount = amount × (target currency rate ÷ source currency rate). Every rate on this page is quoted against the US dollar, so converting EUR to GBP divides the GBP rate by the EUR rate. For example, if 1 USD = 0.92 EUR, then 100 USD = 92 EUR, and 100 EUR = 108.70 USD (100 ÷ 0.92).

Why Your Bank's Exchange Rate Is Different

The rate on this page is the mid-market rate. Banks, card networks, airport kiosks and transfer apps make money by offering a worse rate than that, and sometimes by adding a fixed fee on top. The gap is a hidden cost, and it is easy to calculate.

Example: sending 1,000 USD to eurosRate (EUR per USD)You receiveHidden cost
Mid-market rate0.9200920 EUR0
Provider with a 1% margin0.9108910.80 EUR9.20 EUR
Provider with a 3% margin0.8924892.40 EUR27.60 EUR
Provider with a 5% margin0.8740874.00 EUR46 EUR

The rate in the table is an illustration, not a quote. For a fuller explanation of margins, cross rates and fees, read our guide to how exchange rates work. To check a real offer, compare the rate you are given with the rate on this page. The percentage gap is the margin.

How to get a better rate

  • Compare total cost, not the headline fee. A "zero fee" transfer with a poor rate can cost more than a flat fee at a good rate.
  • Avoid airport and hotel exchange desks unless you need cash immediately. Their margins are usually among the highest.
  • Pay in the local currency by card. When a terminal offers to charge you in your home currency (dynamic currency conversion), the rate is often worse.
  • Exchange larger amounts less often if the provider charges a fixed fee per transaction.
  • Check the rate at the moment of payment. Rates move during the day, and some providers lock a quote only for a short time.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a currency converter and how does it work?

A currency converter multiplies an amount by the exchange rate between two currencies. This one takes the daily rate of each currency against the US dollar and converts through it, so converting EUR to GBP equals amount × (GBP rate ÷ EUR rate).

Are these live exchange rates?

The page loads the latest daily rates from ExchangeRate-API when you open it. They are mid-market reference rates updated about once a day, not tick-by-tick trading prices, so the rate can differ slightly from a live market screen. If the rate feed cannot load, the page tells you and falls back to approximate offline rates that may be out of date.

What is the mid-market rate?

It is the midpoint between the buy and sell prices on the foreign exchange market, and the rate you see on a search engine or news site. Banks and transfer services usually quote a rate worse than this and keep the difference as their margin.

Why is my bank's exchange rate different from this converter?

Banks, card issuers and money transfer providers add a margin to the market rate, and some add a fixed fee. Enter their margin in the fee field to see what you would actually receive, or compare their rate with the rate on this page.

How do I convert USD to PKR?

Choose USD in the From box and PKR in the To box, then type the dollar amount. The page shows the rate and the rupee amount. Exchange houses and banks in Pakistan may quote slightly different rates from the interbank reference, so use the fee field to see what a quoted rate costs you.

How can I get a better exchange rate?

Compare the total cost of several providers, avoid airport exchange desks, pay by card in the local currency instead of your home currency, and check the rate when you pay. A difference of 2 to 3 percent adds up quickly on larger amounts.

How often do exchange rates change?

Market rates move continuously on weekdays, and they pause when markets close at the weekend. Daily reference rates, like those on this page, are refreshed about once a day.

Which currencies does this converter support?

40 currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, INR, PKR, AED, SAR, CAD, AUD, CNY and many more. The full list is under Supported Currencies above.

Can I use it for business payments or investing?

Use it for planning and quick estimates. For invoices, payments and trading, use the exact rate quoted by your bank, payment provider or broker, since it includes their margin and can change before the transaction settles.

Is this currency converter free and private?

Yes, it is free and needs no signup. The amounts you type stay in your browser. The page only requests the daily rate table from ExchangeRate-API, which, like any website you visit, can see your IP address.
