What Is Snake Arena?

Snake Arena is a free multiplayer snake game you play online in your browser, in the style of classic .io games. You share the board with other snakes in real time — eat orbs to grow, avoid crashing into a rival's body, and try to outlast the arena to claim the crown. No download, signup, or install is required, and it works on both desktop and mobile.

How to Play Snake Arena

1. On desktop, steer with your mouse or the arrow keys / WASD.
2. On mobile, drag anywhere on the screen to steer your snake.
3. Hold click, space, or shift (or the on-screen BOOST button on mobile) to sprint.
4. Eat orbs scattered around the arena to grow longer and raise your score.
5. Avoid crashing into the body of any other snake — colliding ends your run.
6. Reach a score of 120 to become king of the arena.

The King Mechanic

Once a snake's score crosses 120, it's crowned king — the biggest, fastest threat on the board. Being king comes with real advantages, but also real risk:

• Faster base speed — the king moves quicker than every other snake.
• Cheaper boosting — sprinting costs less length while crowned.
• A target on your back — every other snake on the board can see the crown and will hunt you for the length bonus that comes with taking you down.

Only one snake can be king at a time, and the crown changes hands the moment the current king dies or is overtaken.

Strategy Tips

1. Boost with a purpose

Boosting costs length, so use it to escape a chase or cut off a smaller snake — not just to move faster for no reason. Every boosted second is length you're giving up.

2. Hunt snakes smaller than you

Crashing a smaller snake into your body is a safer way to gain length than chasing something your own size or bigger. Use gentle curves to cut off their path rather than aggressive turns that expose your own body.

3. Respect the crown, don't chase it recklessly

Going straight for the king the moment you see one usually ends badly — kings move faster and boost cheaper. Let other snakes wear the king down first, then strike.

4. Watch the minimap

The minimap in the corner shows every snake's position on the arena. Use it to spot clusters of rivals worth avoiding, and to see when the king is nearby.

5. Stay away from the arena's edge

The outer boundary of the arena is dangerous — it limits your turning options the same way a corner would. Fight and forage nearer the center when you can.
